Three years ago, a group of Lake Bluff residents gathered acorns from some of our oldest and most magnificent oak trees. They were delivered to Majestic Oaks Nursery in Spring Grove, IL, where they have been growing into young oak trees.  Last year 150 bur and red oaks found homes in Lake Bluff!
Our trees are priced to cover the tree cost, the cost of delivery to Lake Bluff, and a donation to Lake Bluff Open Lands
Oaks from Lake Bluff Acorns Available This Year
This year there will be a limited number of the oaks grown from our native acorns for sale.  The bur oak acorns were gathered in Becky and Jerry Klutchka's back yard from trees that are over 200 years old and remain in great health.  Majestic Oaks has asked for more of these acorns!  The white oak acorns were gathered by Michel Mrachek from her own heritage trees and are available for the first time this year.
Sometimes called the most beautiful oak, the white oak can grow to be a wide spreading specimen tree in an open landscape but it also grows well in groves.  The red oak is known for its fall color but the white oak also has good color.  The bur oak is our most native tree as it was the most common tree in the forests that once covered Lake Bluff's land and it grows vigorously here.
3 gallon white oaks, 2' to 3' tall, $35 each
3 gallon red oaks, 2' to 3' tall, $35 each
10 gallon bur oaks, 4' to 5' tall, $125 each
Note that the 10 gallon trees weigh between 45 and 50 pounds.
Current availability is: 15 white oaks, 4 red oaks and 11 bur oaks.
Other Native Trees Available This Year
Majestic Oaks has other trees grown from seeds gathered in northern Illinois and we offer two as options for our sale.  Swamp white oaks are great trees for wet locations.  Eastern redbuds are low growing trees, useful for under power lines and in shady areas, and appreciated for their purple spring flowers.

5 gallon eastern redbud, 2' to 3' tall, $45
